Move To Moore
Welcome to Moore
Moore is located in central Oklahoma, immediately south of Oklahoma City, the state capitol. Situated in northern Cleveland County, Moore is the second largest city in the county and the ninth largest city in the state. With the development of the interstate highway system, Moore grew from a small town of 1,700 people in 1960 to a vibrant, growing metropolitan community of over 50,000 citizens. Aside from easy access to the greater metropolitan area, Moore has grown because of the outstanding public school system and quality, affordable housing for growing families.
Moore is less than twenty minutes from Will Rogers World Airport, Tinker Air Force Base, the University of Oklahoma, downtown Oklahoma City, the Federal Aviation Agency and thousands of businesses, industries, public and private schools, as well as first-rate recreational and cultural facilities.
However, the best thing about Moore is the small town feel of quiet neighborhoods, peaceful parks and friendly Oklahoma people. As one new resident stated, “It just feels like home.”
We feel confident you will like Moore. We would like to do all we can to help you make a happy and successful relocation to the Moore community.
City Government
Moore has a City Council / Manager form of government. The City is divided into three wards with each ward being represented by two council members. The Mayor is elected by the electorate at large, and, like the council members, serves a four-year term.
Municipal services include police and fire protection; water service; sanitary sewer; sanitation; street and drainage maintenance; parks and recreation; planning, zoning and inspection; emergency management; code enforcement; animal control and cemetery.
